Corenso has adopted benchmark environmental management standards and systems, including ISO 14001 and EMAS, to ensure that its principles of environmental policy are consistently put into practice. 

The recycled raw materials used by Corenso's coreboard mills include used beverage cartons, old corrugated containers (OCC) and plastic laminated wrappings. These are mostly collected from paper mills and from households in Germany and Finland.

More than 90 % of Corenso's raw material is recycled fibre. All primary wood fibre material comes exclusively from sustainable forests. An increasing proportion of the energy Corenso uses for production is derived from recycled products.

The Ecogas technology that has been developed by Corenso for the recycling of multi-material packaging (used beverage cartons, OCC and plastic laminated wrappings) is unique worldwide. In the Ecogas process the plastic layers of used packaging are converted into gas for energy and the aluminium layers recovered for recycling and further use in the metal industry.

Ecological means economical.
